People Who Help Us
Nursery School celebrates Diwali

Afterwards they tried on Indian saris and beautiful jewellery. Nila kindly brought the children bangles which they could take home. Later in the day the children made some Indian sweets to share with their families.
Ahoy Shipmates
As part of our transport topic the Nursery children and staff turned themselves into Pirates for the day last Friday.

The excitement had been building all week as the children made pirate hats and treasure maps. We all had great fun "frightening" the rest of the school before setting off with our maps to find the buried treasure.
After much digging in the sand and mud we finally discovered the treasure chest, which was filled with pieces of eight, necklaces and sweeties!
Creepy Crawlies
|
There was great excitement as boxes were opened and a variety of insects and animals were shown.
All the children were invited to touch or hold the animals. Dave, the giant land snail and Ka the corn snake proved popular. We learnt how some animals shed their skins.
Charlotte the tarantula stayed in her cage but we were able to look at her and the skin she shed last year. By far, everyone's favourite was Daisy, a very friendly pet rat. She finished the show by performing a leap in air from her handler's hand to her cage. The children were very well behaved and much braver than their teachers!

Amanda enhanced our current Noah's Art topic with many weather and animal related songs and activities. We all helped "Noah" to build the Ark in one game and enjoyed crashing our cymbals together rhythmically in another.
To simulate an underwater scene lots of bubbles were blown over us as we lay on our backs thinking about tropical fish in coral caves! What a wonderful morning.
