Creepy Crawlies
Creepy Crawlies were the order of the day when Zoolab visited the Nursery and Reception class.  The children learnt about animals that hibernate and life cycles.

There was great excitement as boxes were opened and a variety of insects and animals were shown.

All the children were invited to touch or hold the animals. Dave, the giant land snail and Ka the corn snake proved popular. We learnt how some animals shed their skins.

Charlotte the tarantula stayed in her cage but we were able to look at her and the skin she shed last year. By far, everyone’s favourite was Daisy, a very friendly pet rat. She finished the show by performing a leap in air from her handler’s hand to her cage.  The children were very well behaved and much braver than their teachers!

Merlin the Magician
Merlin the Magician visits Beechwood
Years R-2 were whisked away by Merlin the Master Magician to the land of Ancient Britain in a taster drama workshop - all without the aid of a single prop! The children made magic spells and potions to help them fly to the time of King Arthur.  Their mission was to help forgetful Merlin find the sword in the stone for King Arthur, before evil Morgan Le Fay discovered it.  All the children were captivated by their own imaginations and joined in the drama session with enthusiasm.
