Curriculum

In the Nursery and Reception, the curriculum is carefully planned to encourage the children to reach their full potential, be it academic, creative or physical. Your child will spend the majority of the day with his or her form teacher, who will implement the guidelines of the QCA Early Learning Goals.

In Years 1 and 2 (Key Stage 1), our programmes of study enhance as well as support the National Curriculum. Your child will be taught predominantly by his or her form teacher with some subjects, for example Music, French and PE, taken by specialist teachers.

The work continues to build on these foundations in Years 3 – 6 (Key Stage 2), as subjects are developed beyond the basic skill level. All subjects are timetabled separately and are taught by either the form teacher or increasingly by subject specialists, either from within the Preparatory School or from the Senior School, so aiding a smooth transition from primary to secondary education.
