| At Beechwood, Sixth Formers enjoy a feeling of independence whilst still appreciating the support and encouragement of staff and fellow students. |
"Dear Prospective Sixth Former,
Even after A-levels no one is quite ready for the leap to university. Here at Beechwood, however, you will be given every opportunity to become independent, learn to take on responsibilities and grow in maturity so that by the end of Year 13 you will be prepared and eager to move on to Higher Education. How does Beechwood achieve this, and how is the approach different from any other school?
Firstly, Beechwood’s caring family atmosphere is unique, and it is something we take great pride in. Secondly, small classes and the rapport between teachers and pupils gives each girl the chance to achieve their best with careful guidance and encouragement from all the staff.
If you are a present pupil of Beechwood, the Sixth Form will be a refreshing change from the lower school. The whole approach to learning is different, and you are suddenly treated as an adult! Plus, for you and any new girl, there is the opportunity of taking on responsibilities and you will be able to develop a better relationship with the younger years. You will also enjoy some privileges making school life better still.
The friendly atmosphere at Beechwood is carried through to boarding where every
effort is made to make you feel at home. Single study bedrooms, and the freedom to organise your own time helps the move to independence.
Down in the cosy common room (whether you relax on the sofas with a cup of tea or play a game of pool), is where your friendships strengthen and develop. This
opportunity is eased by the fact that the year groups are small, so integration between Years 12 and 13 is easy and everyone can get to know each other.
The Enrichment Programme is just as exciting, including theatre trips, socials and evening meals. One of the highlights of the year is the Summer Ball, held in a prestigious location with everyone appropriately dressed for the occasion, it is a time to meet new people and let your hair down.
So, if you are in need of two dynamic years full of stimulating challenges and fun, come to Beechwood. There could be no better environment for your final years of school.
