Exam Results 2011

We congratulate our A-level and GCSE students on their commendable results. At A-level:
Grade A* - A      39%
Grades A* - B     78%
Pass Rate          97%

University points per candidate:  354

Headmaster, Nicholas Beesley commented: "All the hard work of our students and teachers has been rewarded by outstanding results. I am especially pleased by the number of our entries that have gained the top grades. Whilst we have students who have gained strings of A* and A grades, of which they should be proud, I am equally thrilled by one student who gained just an A and a C, but whose background before she came to the school 4 years ago apparently gave her no hope of any academic achievement. This is the sort of outcome that makes teaching such a rewarding profession."

GCSE Examinations
A*-A 38%          A* - C  86%          A* - G  100%

Headmaster Nicholas Beesley said:
"As we have come to expect, some of our pupils have achieved outstanding results this year - four girls having gained A* or A grades in all of their subjects. At Beechwood, we cater for pupils with a wide range of abilities and so for us success is measured by the performance of each individual against their potential. A handful of passes for some pupils represents personal success and is therefore just as pleasing as the top grades of others."

Sacred Heart Network

Sacred Heart Schools Share a Prayer
On Thursday 18 November, as one of the six Sacred Heart schools in England, Beechwood took part in a joint prayer to celebrate the life of St Rose Philippine Duschenne, who was one of the inspiring, founder members of the Sacred Heart Society.

Philippine travelled to America and devoted her life to setting up a Sacred Heart School in Louisiana. We watched a film showing her story, with footage and photographs sent from the six Sacred Heart schools in England. Philippine's courage and determination have inspired us all.

Prue Wilson Society

Prue Wilson Society
This society, named after a former Headmistress, is open to all pupils, staff and friends of the school. A committee of Sixth Form Scholars and the Head Girl invites speakers on a range of topics of interest to address meetings of the Society. They are responsible for contact with the speaker, and arrangements for the meeting in which they act as hosts.

Parents are warmly invited to attend these talks, which are followed by light refreshments and a chance to speak to the guest speaker. Beechwood scholars are expected to attend.
