Admissions

Beechwood Sacred Heart School admits pupils with a wide range of academic ability.

The single most important criterion used for selection, however, is that the prospective pupil should be able to meet and maintain the standards required by the school for all its pupils and should feel comfortable with the ethos to which the school aspires.

Admission normally takes place according to the following process:

  • Initial visit to the school
  • Trial day for prospective pupil
  • Interview with Headmaster or Head of Prep
  • Written reports from current school
  • Offer of a place

Please contact the Registrar, Sue Dyke, to arrange a visit to the school or to answer any questions regarding admissions:

Fax: 01892 536164

Overseas Pupils
Pupils from overseas may not be able to conform to the usual entrance procedures. They will usually be required to complete the school's own tests for overseas pupils in English and Mathematics. Selection will be based on performance in these tests and on a report from the pupil's current school.

11+ Entry

11+ ENTRANCE DAY
Our next Entrance & Scholarship day will be on 19 January 2013

As the Kent 11+ selection tests will now take place in September, some independent schools have moved their 11+ entrance tests forward to the Autumn Term, and will no doubt be offering places to successful applicants soon afterwards. Whenever testing takes place, however, the regulations of the Independent Schools Council clearly state that there should be no deadline for acceptance of places before the first week of March.
At Beechwood, we have therefore decided to keep our Entrance Day in January, because it fits in better with our school year. We believe that this will still give parents plenty of time to come to a decision about their child's secondary education.

Scholarships
Pupils may enter for academic, drama, music, art or sport scholarships. Selection takes place on Entrance Day.

Pupils in receipt of a Beechwood Scholarship are expected to play a major part in the School's activities.  All scholarships are subject to review at the end of each Key Stage.

PROCEDURE
Scholarships are awarded after the panel has reviewed examination marks and interviews, approximately one week after the Scholarship Day. A deposit of £400 is required to confirm the acceptance of a scholarship place.

Candidates may support their Scholarship Applications with testimonials from third parties if they wish.  Such testimonials should be delivered to the Registrar at least one week before the relevant Scholarship Day.
