Have by Julius Hay

The 2009 Senior School drama production, Have, was about historical events that took place in Hungary in the last century, in which dozens of peasant women were tried for the time-honoured practice of poisoning their husbands in order to inherit a few acres of land.

The Wind in the Willows

Wednesday 19 - Saturday 22 November 2008

This year is the centenary of Kenneth Graham's magical tale of life down by the riverbank. It is a chance to peer into a world where Mole has his little house, Badger's been asleep all winter and Ratty just loves messing about on the river. Meanwhile, rebellious Mr Toad's latest whim starts as caravanning but ends with stealing motor cars (Poop, Poop!). His subsequent imprisonment gives the wicked weasels their chance to take over his beloved home, Toad Hall.

A Christmas Carol

Christmas and its warm spirit came early to Beechwood, with a lively and engaging production of Dicken's A Christmas Carol.  Director Sandy Truman again conjured up a dramatic feast, which is in turn charming, witty and truly entertaining.

Tiny Tim and the Cratchits plucked at our heart strings and the entire cast, with girls from Years 7 to 13, brought the story expertly to life.  Kezia, as Scrooge, was superb, portraying the miserable gentleman and eventually reformed character with great integrity.  She commanded the stage and her comic timing and charismatic presence carried the audience along from Christmas past to Christmas future.

The sound effects, especially the squeaking door and the music added to the atmosphere as we journeyed along with Scrooge.  A splendid evening's entertainment and to the cast and all the backstage crew we say "God bless them every one"!
