Theme Days

Subject specific skills are enhanced by theme days, in which a whole day is devoted to one subject.

For instance, on Science Days the children have the opportunity to explore one area of Science. Recent Science Days have included learning about Space in an inflatable planetarium in the Auditorium, and an exploration into the physics of bubbles.

Literature comes to life on World Book Day when the children have the opportunity to dress as a character from a book they have read and the day is given over to all things literary.

French Day brings the opportunities of language use, gastronomy, fashion and drama in role play and plenty of eating!

Maths Day

All the pupils in the Prep School were involved in solving problems of a mathematical nature last Friday on Maths Day.

Key Stage 1's ‘Money' theme saw pupils creating and running their own cafes and cake shops where handling coins and working out money problems were in evidence. A carousel of Practical Maths problems had children in Years 3 to 6 scratching their heads and working together to find the answers.

All the children had a great day learning that Maths is fun, interesting and extremely useful.
