Boarding Life
 |
| Beechwood is a home from home for boarders. |
Beechwood is truly a home from home for boarders.
An elegant Victorian house, built as a family home: Beechwood retains a special atmosphere and gives everyone a very real sense of belonging.
Beautiful landscaped grounds of twenty three acres overlook open countryside, yet Beechwood is within walking distance of the centre of the town of Tunbridge Wells, with its extensive entertainment and shopping facilities.
Although the Senior School will be open for boys and girls from September 2008, at present we can only offer boarding for girls aged 11 - 18. In the future we may extend our boarding provision to include senior boys, if there is sufficient demand. To find out more about the life of boarders at Beechwood

Outings
Outings normally take place on Saturdays. They are compulsory for junior boarders and optional for others. The programme combines cultural and fun events, and is planned to include as much variety as possible.
The London Eye
 |
| The London Eye in the snow |
Last Saturday, Mrs Prodrick organised a marvellous trip to the London Eye. Taking the train to London Bridge Station, we decided to take advantage of a whole day in London and visited the Borough Market, where there was every type of cheese you could imagine and a wide variety of food.
We continued our walk, passing a copy of the Golden Hind, the ship that Francis Drake captained when he circumnavigated the entire world in 1570. Passing the New Globe Theatre we then went to Tate Modern, where the piece of art with most impact was done by Doris Salacedo, a Columbian artist, and consists of a crack in the floor!
We arrived at the London Eye and were lucky to get a whole cabin to ourselves. Next on to Covent Garden for coffee and shopping and then we returned to school having enjoyed a very interesting day.

What pupils say
 |
| Boarders enjoying a day out |
“You grow up with your friends here, and go through so much with them by your side. Beechwood boarding prepares you for so many things and makes you ready.
It gives you the chance to be free, in a way, and makes you independent – that’s what I love about boarding – independence.”
Danielle Year 9 (from UK)

| A Theme Night |
“A lot of things are good in the life of a boarder. The time is really well-organised, with study periods in the evening during the week, and in the morning at weekends. At weekends you have some free time during the afternoons to arrange as you wish.
Boarders have a lot of opportunities to make friends from England or overseas. Girls from overseas are welcomed and given help to overcome language difficulties and problems with their work.”
Suzy Year 10 (from France)
