Art

The Art department believes strongly that drawing is the cornerstone to success. Through teaching and practice, pupils achieve standards beyond their expectations.

In Years 7 - 9 pupils undergo a series of projects designed to help them to understand the creative process and develop a range of two and three-dimensional skills. Pupils are encouraged to think for themselves, to question and to embrace a wide range of media, including watercolour, oils, textiles, ceramics and photography.

Pupils may choose to take Art at GCSE, and further study in the Sixth Form could lead to AS or A Level in Fine Art, encompassing aspects of Art History and the role of Art in society.
