The story is not what one might expect. It truly is turned on its head, with adorable and certainly not ugly sisters and a charming and caring mother. It is Cinders, ably abetted by Dame Wiley and her tricks, who causes misery for all.
Who else but Mrs Truman could have predicted the announcement of a royal wedding this week and selected the school play months ago to tie in with this! It's just as well Kate Middleton got to the palace first or in the words of one of the songs Cinderella would have ‘wowed them at the palace' too.
The script has many memorable lines delivered with aplomb and with just a hint of advice for William and Kate: a small wedding, just invite the immediate kingdom and any day is a perfect day for a wedding - as long as it's soon. The cast coped well with difficult songs and their enjoyment was conveyed to the audience, giving us all a memorable evening.
