Gone Fishing

We set off again on our annual summer fishing trip to Worcestershire - this time in the rain. We set up base camp under Knightwick bridge, which was sheltered and dry, put the kettle on for hot chocolate and checked out the likely fishing spots.

After throwing in some bait we returned to our dry and warm shelter, cooked up a chunky stew with crusty bread and set up a plan of action. Back into the drizzle to cast our baits, Callam landed the first Barbel after battling away for almost quarter of an hour. We all fell asleep to the relentless pitter patter of rain drops, waking at six o'clock for bacon sandwiches. Douglas and Finn went off to catch supper, scale perfect fish and that ended up being the haul. Other boys fished with great skill and patience but were unlucky.

Great preserve and resilience were shown by all, and behaviour was of the highest quality.
