Sponsored Walk for CAFOD

Sponsored Walk
Sponsored Walk
A sponsored walk raised over £3000 for Beechwood's school charity of the year, CAFOD. The whole Senior School gave up their lessons and donned their walking shoes to spend an afternoon walking around the lake at the local Dunorlan Park in Tunbridge Wells. After five circuits they made their way back to school for a well-earned hot chocolate drink and cake. Every pupil was responsible for finding sponsors and collecting in their donations for the charity.

Pupils pack treats for troops

PUPILS at a Tunbridge Wells school have packed up Christmas boxes for the troops after a visit from a female soldier serving in Afghanistan.
"I did't realise how tough it is" said 12-year-old Jordan Muir from Beechwood Sacred Heart School in Pembury Road. After hearing about the daily life of Heloise Goodley, the daughter of history teacher Gwen Goodley, who is an acting captain with the Air Corps, Jordan joined classmates to fill gaily-wrapped boxes with everything from chocolate biscuits and sweets to DVDs and card games, plus warm scarves and gloves for the harsh Afghan winter.
16-year-old Sophie Couldwell also packed up a special boxful of treats for a female soldier. "I just thought what I would like in that situation, and tried to find things she"d enjoy" said Sophie. "Sometimes I think the girls out there get forgotten."

A Visit to Burrswood

Senior School Form Captains, accompanied by the two girls who raised the most money, enjoyed a visit to Burrswood. They presented a cheque for over £3,000: the proceeds of a sponsored walk held last term.

After a tour of Burrswood, the girls enjoyed tea and cakes with the Director, Dr Gareth, who was overwhelmed by the amount raised and asked to pass on his gratitude to all involved in raising this fantastic sum.
