STOMP Workshop

It looked as though someone was emptying a cleaning firm's van, but no, it was just the STOMP performers arriving to run their workshop for Senior School pupils on Friday morning.

Sixth formers carried bins, brooms and giant sticks to the auditorium and there the fun commenced. The floor has never been so clean as it was rhythmically swept by each House in turn who then gradually learnt to make music with their hands, feet, twirling brooms and bins.

The best six performers from each House were then selected for the grand finale- The Inter-House Music competition.

Interhouse Clowning

For one day only the Auditorium became a big top, with Ring Master, whooping crowds and clowns who wowed the audience with their amazing skills. The Inter House event for this term was something new for the Senior School, with the hidden talents for circus tricks of Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 being discovered.  James and Charlotte were ace plate spinners, Dilys a graceful juggler and Izzy an amazing peacock feather balancer.  All those who attempted juggling were superb and mastered an impressive level of skill in a short time.  According to Ring Master Adam's fantastic clapometer, Assisi won the day and a proud Laura, as House Captain, came up to claim the prize, the Inter House Skills Cup.  Well done to all who took part and to the lively audience for cheering them on their way.  As for plate spinning...don"t try that one at home!

House Activities Afternoon
Just before Half Term lessons were abandoned in favour of an afternoon of sport and a problem solving activities, which saw all age-groups working together in their House Teams.

Strictly Beechwood

On Wednesday after school the Auditorium was the stage for the House Dance Competition.

Saucy Salsa and the Jailhouse Rocked!

On Wednesday after school the Auditorium was the stage for the House Dance Competition. Kildare kicked off with a vibrant interpretation of the classic Jailhouse Rock. Vanessa and Fafa were obviously born in the wrong generation as they led their team of rock chicks and chaps.

Then on came Lima with an equally lively version of the same number.  Miranda even managed to get Mr Beesley up for a few twirls too! The mood then changed and the Avila Salsa dancers took centre stage.

They had certainly learnt the right moves from Miss Cruickshank's dance classes and their costumes were outstanding.

Finally we watched Assisi boogy their way to win the competition with a sparkling and energetic jive. Claire and Monta then  demonstrated their grace and rhythm with a cha-cha to entertain the audience whilst the judges worked out their scores.

The competition was very close with a very high standard of dancing - watch out Mark Ramprakash - those Beechwood girls know how to wow an audience.
