The Sixth Form at Beechwood is an important phase, in which we prepare our students for life at university and beyond. Sixth formers are treated as young adults, with increased freedom to organise their time, and take more responsibility for their own learning. Students can choose what to wear, within our guidelines, and they have use of the Sixth Form Common Room.
Our first priority is to provide the support and good teaching that they need in order to excel in their A-level subjects. Small classes and the excellent rapport between teachers and students ensure that each student achieves his or her aims. Our record of A-level results is remarkable with many students surpassing their expectations, and all gaining places in Higher Education.
In Year 12, students usually choose four subjects to study at AS-level, continuing with three or occasionally four subjects at A-level in Year 13. Other combinations are possible, because each student is treated as an individual, with a programme of study carefully matched to his or her aims and aptitudes.
The following subjects are offered at AS and A-level:
| Art |
French |
Law |
Physics |
Theatre Studies |
| Biology | Geography | Mathematics | Psychology | Textiles |
| Business Studies | German | Further Mathematics | Religious Studies | |
|
Chemistry |
History | Music | Spanish | |
| English | Home Economics | Photography | Applied ICT |
