Personal Development

We treat our Sixth Formers as young people, giving them certain privileges and opportunities for greater independence.

They respond by being excellent role models for the school and we rely on them for the smooth running of the school day, as well as on important school occasions.

As Sixth Formers we expect the students to take on responsibilities by doing duties in school and, if they are boarders, in the evenings and at weekends.

Many Sixth Formers become prefects in the Summer Term of Year 12, and we appoint House Captains, Games Captain and Deputy Head Boy/Girl. The Head Boys and Girls are elected by the whole Senior School and staff, at the end of the Spring Term in Year 12.

Leadership and Team-Building
We believe that being a Sixth Former at Beechwood prepares our students well for the lives that they will lead in the world outside school.

Each year Sixth Formers take part in a leadership and team building course, run by professional trainers. In this way they develop their potential by becoming more effective team players and managers.
