Senior School Report
Week beginning 29th September 2008
U14, U15 & U16 Netball v St Leonards-Mayfield On Monday we played St Leonards ‘B’ teams. The U16’s had to fight hard for the ball and they were punished for silly mistakes. Mayfield kept the upper hand throughout the game leading to a 13-24 defeat. The U15’s once again found themselves in a tight match. They fought back after a poor first quarter and had drawn level by half time, then edging ahead Beechwood finished convincingly winning 20-15. The U14’s continued to build on their whole team approach. This paid dividends and led to a healthy 11-4 victory. Karolina and Megan particularly shot well.
U14 & U15 Netball v Kent College On Wednesday our U15 and U14 teams played Kent College A and B teams. The U15’s played hard but panicked against a taller team and were unable to convert our shooting chances leading to a 2-11 defeat. Stephanie who despite the size of her opponents made some brilliant interceptions. The U14’s had a slow start only converting one of their chances in the first quarter. However the game picked up momentum and finished with a great final quarter. Beechwood won 12-7 . Dara was player of the match as she consistently held the team’s passing together.
U12 Netball v Bethany School This was our new U12’s first away game and it proved to be an extremely rewarding one. The first half was very close with both teams battling against the strong, gusty wind but Beechwood broke through to score, then Bethany equalised just before half time. Bethany gained a two goal lead going into the last quarter, but we kept it together and scored three super goals giving a final score of 4-3 to Beechwood.
U13 Netball v Bethany This was an extremely fast game with Beechwood proving to be a very strong and able team. Fantastic goals by Holly, players of the match Amelia and Gabbi.
U12 Football v Bethany The U12 Football team went to Bethany to play in a seven-a-side match. By the end of the first half we had conceded 5 goals following a team talk things were much tighter and after twenty minutes only 2 goals were scored by the opponents. Men of the match Charles Firth and Callum Morris, who made some fantastic saves in goal.
