If you'd also like to experience a personal Zoom chat with Mr Waite, Headteacher at Beechwood - let us know!
In the video below, Mr Waite explains exactly what he loves about our school community and why he joined us last year.
Josh Rowe – Head of Middle Division and PE
“As the Head of Years 9, 10 and 11, as well as the Head of PE, it is my aim to create a kind, caring and compassionate environment where students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning. We are lucky to have an outstanding team of form tutors to equip students with the skills they need to succeed.
“Sport is also an exceptionally important part of life here and we ensure all our students have an opportunity to find a sport that they love and will want to continue for the rest of their lives. Our fixtures are an opportunity for students to succeed, learn and grow in confidence. For those who have a passion for sport, GCSE PE is available as an option in Year 10.
Jon Millward - Head of Science
“Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong - it is character,” said Albert Einstein.
“Now more than at any point in the past, science education is hugely important. In a world where scientific evidence and discovery effects everything from government policy to electric cars, it is important to equip children with a range of skills, for example, problem-solving, data analysis, critical thinking and metacognition - all of which are built on in the science courses at Beechwood.”

Nicky Phipps – Head of English
“English underpins every subject in school, encouraging the ability to analyse, reason and communicate. As a subject in its own right, Beechwood is ‘great’ at English with 74% of GCSE students gaining a Level 7 and above.
“Superb, passionate teachers encourage confidence to explore ideas and express authoritative ideas as essays from Year 7 – 13 in an accessible and creative curriculum designed to engage and challenge.”
