Day Matron – Boarding House
We are seeking an exceptional and compassionate individual to serve as our Boarding House Matron, responsible for overseeing and enhancing the residential life experience of our students.
The Day Matron plays a vital role in the pastoral care and wellbeing of boarders during the school day. This position ensures the smooth running of the boarding house by providing support to students, overseeing domestic operations, and maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

About the Role and You
Contract type: Full-time, permanent, 40 hours a week, term time only, shift work and occasional weekends
Salary: Dependent on experience
Start date: September 2025
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Provide emotional and practical support to boarders during the school day
- Care for unwell students and liaise with the school nurse or parents
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming boarding environment
- Oversee cleanliness and tidiness of student rooms and communal areas
- Report maintenance issues promptly and escalate as needed
- Manage boarders’ laundry twice weekly, ensuring smooth collection and return
- Assist with the daily operations of the boarding house
- Support boarding staff with admin and logistics as required
- Uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards at all times
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- Proficient in computer skills and confident in their use.
- Willingness to take on additional duties as assigned by the Head.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy in all work.
- Proactive team player who remains calm under pressure in a busy office.
- Professional demeanour, handling confidential information with discretion.
