Students study the core subjects of English Language. English Literature, Mathematics, Dual or Separate Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), and Religious Studies together with up to three optional subjects.

Class sizes vary from about 8 – 20, according to the subject options taken. Mathematics continues to be taught in ability groups.

The Performing Arts of Music and Drama are an important part of life at Beechwood. More than half the students have extra lessons in singing or instrumental music and opportunities to perform are wide and varied. Students of all ages and abilities are encouraged to take part in a variety of dramatic activities and Theatre Studies is a popular and successful choice for many students both at GCSE and A-level.
